Hammerdin Paladin – Leveling Build
The Hammerdin Paladin is a powerful and durable leveling build for Diablo 4 Season 15. The build revolves around Blessed Hammer, with Disciple's Halo causing your hammers to follow and orbit around you while you move through enemy packs.
Fanaticism Aura supports your offense and resource generation, Defiance Aura provides strong defensive benefits, and Rally supplies Faith and additional mobility.
During the early levels, you also use Holy Bolt. Once Arbiter of Justice becomes available, the Ultimate normally replaces Holy Bolt on your skill bar.
Playstyle
- Keep Defiance Aura and Fanaticism Aura active to benefit from their passive effects.
- Use Rally to generate Faith and increase your Movement Speed.
- Cast Blessed Hammer repeatedly and position yourself so the orbiting hammers hit as many enemies as possible.
- Use Falling Star to enter enemy packs, deal damage, or quickly move toward the next group.
- Activate Fanaticism Aura against tougher enemies to make them Vulnerable and increase your offensive pressure.
- Use Arbiter of Justice against large packs, elites, and bosses.
Rotation
During the early levels before Arbiter of Justice is unlocked:
Rally → Fanaticism Aura → Holy Bolt → Blessed Hammer → Falling Star
Once Arbiter of Justice becomes available, use this rotation against larger packs:
Rally → Fanaticism Aura → Arbiter of Justice → Blessed Hammer → Falling Star
Against normal enemy packs, a simpler rotation is usually enough:
Rally → Blessed Hammer → move through the pack → Falling Star into the next group
You do not need to use every cooldown against small packs. Save Arbiter of Justice primarily for elites, bosses, and especially large groups.
Faith
Blessed Hammer consumes Faith, making smooth resource management especially important during the early levels.
Rally is one of your main tools for restoring Faith and gains additional Faith generation through Words of Rejuvenation.
The selected upgrade for Fanaticism Aura also improves your Resource Generation.
During the early levels, Holy Bolt provides another reliable source of Faith.
A simple resource cycle is:
Holy Bolt / Rally → generate Faith → Blessed Hammer → rebuild Faith when needed
If your Faith generation is still uncomfortable after unlocking Arbiter of Justice, you can keep Holy Bolt on your skill bar until your resource management improves.
Using Blessed Hammer
Blessed Hammer is your primary damage skill.
With Disciple's Halo, the skill changes significantly: your hammers follow and orbit around your character instead of simply traveling away from their original position.
This makes positioning an important part of the build.
Try to:
- move directly through larger enemy packs
- hit several enemies with your orbiting hammers
- build up hammers before reaching the next pack
- keep enemies inside the hammer path for as long as possible
The better you move through and around enemy packs, the more effectively your orbiting Blessed Hammers can hit them.
Fanaticism Aura
Fanaticism Aura provides several important benefits at the same time.
Whenever you spend Faith, its passive effect improves your offensive power through additional Attack Speed and Critical Strike Chance.
With the upgrades selected in the planner:
- your maximum resource is increased
- the active effect makes nearby enemies Vulnerable
- your Resource Generation is increased
Arbiter of Justice
Once Arbiter of Justice is unlocked, it normally replaces Holy Bolt on your skill bar.
The Ultimate transforms you into Arbiter form and creates a powerful damage window.
The planner uses upgrades including:
- Cooldown Reduction
- increased Duration
- Seraph's Wings
- against bosses
- against elite enemies
- against particularly large packs
- during important damage windows
Falling Star and Mobility
Falling Star combines mobility with additional damage.
Use it to dive directly into enemy packs or quickly move toward the next group. The selected Additional Charge gives you more flexibility when moving through an area.
Starfall adds additional eruptions after landing, improving your area damage.
The selected Cooldown Reduction mechanic can also reduce Falling Star's cooldown when you kill Vulnerable enemies.
Defense
Hammerdin has very solid defenses for an offensive leveling build.
Defiance Aura passively increases your Armor and Resistances. The upgrades selected in the planner also provide additional healing, Maximum Life, and further defensive support.
You also use a one-handed weapon and Shield, allowing you to benefit from Block Chance.
While leveling, prioritize:
- Maximum Life
- Block Chance
- Armor
- Resistances
- defensive Aspects
Leveling Gear
You do not need perfect items while leveling. Replace your equipment regularly and use the Affix Priority listed above as a guideline.
Because Blessed Hammer continuously consumes Faith, Resource Generation and smooth resource management are especially valuable.
Cooldown Reduction improves the availability of your important skills, while Cast Speed supports your Blessed Hammer gameplay.
Keep the intended weapon setup:
One-Handed Weapon + Shield
The Shield is not just a temporary equipment choice for this build. Its additional Block Chance is an intentional part of the leveling setup.
Aspects
You can find the most important Aspects and their recommended item slots directly in the Gear section.
The planner uses several Aspects that support your Holy damage, Auras, defenses, and Arbiter of Justice.
You do not need every Aspect immediately while leveling. Add them gradually and continue replacing weaker equipment as you find upgrades.
Tip: Prioritize Aspects that noticeably improve your Blessed Hammer damage, Faith management, or survivability first. Perfect rolls are not necessary during the leveling phase.
Leveling Tip
Hammerdin becomes especially smooth once your Faith generation is stable and Arbiter of Justice becomes available.
Avoid fighting every enemy individually. Gather several enemies, build up Blessed Hammers, and then move through the pack while your hammers orbit around you.
If you frequently run out of Faith during the early levels or immediately after switching to Arbiter of Justice, keep Holy Bolt on your skill bar until your resource management improves.
Rally → Fanaticism Aura → build Blessed Hammers → move through the pack → Falling Star → Arbiter of Justice against tougher enemies.
This gives the Hammerdin strong area damage, excellent survivability, good mobility, and a very comfortable leveling playstyle.

How to read and rebuild this Paladin build
This page holds a complete Paladin build for Diablo 4: skill tree, gear with aspects, paragon boards and the class mechanic. Here is how to read each tab and in what order to rebuild it.
The class mechanic: Oaths
The chosen Oath sets the playstyle and modifies skills accordingly. On top of that comes the mandatory weapon-and-shield pairing — the Paladin off-hand slot is never a free choice.
Gear, aspects and affixes
The Gear tab lists every slot with its item, aspect and all affixes. Colour marks show what is special about a given line: a Greater Affix (GA) is the fifty-percent stronger roll of an affix, a tempering affix is added at the blacksmith from a manual, and an affix marked for masterworking only takes effect at Masterwork Quality 25 — which is why the planner always shows it at maximum.
Rebuild the gear in this order: uniques and mythics first, since they are fixed, then aspects on the remaining slots, then tempering and masterworking. Aspects can be imprinted from the Codex of Power or extracted from legendaries you find.
Paragon and glyphs
Paragon boards unlock at level 60. How many points this build spends is shown in the header band at the top. What matters is not the individual nodes but the glyphs: their radius grows with glyph level, and their additional bonus only applies once enough attribute points sit inside that radius. A board with the right rotation is therefore worth more than a board with more nodes filled in.
Variants and season
Many builds carry several variants — for example a version without mythics to start out. The bar under the build name switches between them, and skills, gear and paragon all change with it. The version picker in the header shows the build against the data of a given season.
