Diablo 4 Season 14 Farming Guide: Farm Mythics, Gold, Materials & Gems Efficiently

All farm routes of the Season of Death Awakening — where to get keys, Pandemonium Fragments, Obols & more the fastest

In Season 14 ("Season of Death Awakening") of the Lord of Hatred era, drop sources and farm routes have shifted quite a bit. War Plans now sit at the center of the entire endgame, and almost every activity can be tuned toward a specific loot type. This guide shows you where to most efficiently farm Mythic items, gold, gems, keys and crafting materials in S14 — and what to unlock in your War Plans to do it.

The Golden Rule: Pick the Loot Type First, Then Your War Plans

The biggest mistake in S14 is to "just farm". It only gets efficient once you decide what you're missing first, then run the matching activity together with its War Plan node. A well-built War Plan isn't a nice-to-have — it's the multiplier: it attaches bonus rewards (up to Mythic quality) to exactly the activities you're already running.

Quick reference for everyday farming:
  • Helltide Maggots → keys + XP
  • Lair Bosses → gold, charms, seals, Mythic chances
  • Escalation Nightmare Dungeons → gems, Obols, materials, gold

Everything scales with your Torment tier (T1–T12): item sell value and drop quality rise noticeably with each tier. So always farm at the highest Torment tier you can clear quickly and safely.

1. Escalation Nightmare Dungeons: the All-Round Farm

The single strongest source for materials, gems, Obols and gold are the Escalation Nightmare Dungeons. You create them by transmuting 5 regular Nightmare Sigils in the Horadric Cube — the result is an Escalation Dungeon Key: a chained, high-scaling Nightmare sequence.

The clever part is the Reserve portals between stages: at each transition you pick a Material, Gem, Gold or Obol Reserve. Rewards scale the deeper you push into the chain — on the later stages (roughly from the second/third leg) the drop numbers flip from "nice" to "massive". Always pick the Reserve that matches what you're missing, rather than farming mixed.

For the chain itself, the Nightmare Dungeon branch in your War Plans is worth it — it unlocks double chests and extra portal choices (Waking Spoils & Branching Pathways), so each run nets you more Reserves and more end chests. image image

2. Farming Mythic Items

Mythic items have become noticeably rarer in S14 — the drop rates from boss Hoards were nerfed too. There are two paths: let them drop or craft them on purpose.

Via Bosses (the Lair Boss Ladder)

The Boss Ladder is your best shot at random Mythics: you spend a Lair Key on an Initiate boss, which drops a Greater Key, and so on. At the top sit Belial and Mephisto.

At the very top sits the Corrupted Reaper, the season's new Superior Lair Boss. It's the single best source of Mythics and Pandemonium Fragments in the entire game — unlocked via the Superior Lair Keys from the Pandemonium loop (see the Keys section).

Once you have enough keys, run boss rotations. For targeted item hunting, prioritize the Lair Boss branch in your War Plans (harder bosses, but double chests + ambush loot).

Targeted Crafting (Blacksmith vs. Jeweler/Cube)

In S14 there are two separate craft pools:

  • Blacksmith — for the "iconic" Mythics (e.g. Starless Skies, Melted Heart of Selig, The Grandfather). You collect Resplendent Sparks and craft the item at the Blacksmith.
  • Jeweler / Horadric Cube — for the newer, slot-based Mythics. It works like an item reroll: put in a weapon, get a Mythic weapon back — from a separate pool than the Blacksmith. The Cube craft runs on Pandemonium Fragments (5 per attempt).
You can still only equip one crafted Mythic at a time! So plan your craft deliberately.

So don't scrap unwanted Mythics — salvage them into Sparks instead, which feed the Blacksmith pool directly.

3. Farming Gold (Billions in a Few Hours)

Quick note up front: the gold cap was raised to 999,999,999,999 in S14 — so hoarding finally pays off. If you're only after gold, skip the hours of dungeon grinding:

  • Best method: farm Lair Bosses at Torment 12.
  • The seal trick: bosses regularly drop Legendary Seals. A single Legendary Seal sells to the vendor for a staggering 13 million gold — valuable even if you never use it yourself.
  • The "Golden Horde" node: unlock this node in your War Plans. It converts all non-Unique drops in the boss chests into pure gold — around 10 million gold per chest at T12. Open two chests at once and you've locked in 20 million gold right there.
On top of that, Infernal Hordes (Spoils of Gold) and Kurast Undercity provide reliable extra gold whenever you're there anyway.

Saving tip: most gold problems come not from farming but from spending. Don't enchant mediocre items on repeat, and don't reroll weak affixes — save your heavy gold spending for gear that will actually stay equipped. Often from Torment 6–8+.

4. Keys (Lair Keys) & Pandemonium Fragments

Boss Keys / Lair Keys

By far the best source are the Helltides — specifically farming the Maggots and the events at the Hellmouths. The trick: in your War Plans (Helltide) set the Hellmouth + Writhe & Rot nodes. This combo spawns Hellworms that spit out Maggots when killed — and those hand you tons of Paragon XP on top of the keys.

You get the Superior Lair Keys for the Corrupted Reaper through the Pandemonium loop: close a Pandemonium Rupture → a Realmwalker spawns from big ruptures → opens a Deathtoll Chamber → out come the Superior Lair Keys.

Pandemonium Fragments

You need this new currency for Mythic Cube crafting. Best source is the new season boss (Corrupted Reaper): 1 fragment per kill, and you need 5 fragments for one craft. The drop rate will likely improve in a future patch.

Fragments do NOT drop from seasonal reputation caches!

5. Materials & Gems at a Glance

Forgotten Souls

Set your loot filter to show Non-Ancestral Uniques — pick them up and salvage them right away. Alternatively, run Material Reserves in the Escalation Nightmares specifically; a good run can spit out over 1,000 Souls at once. On top of that, you can convert Baleful Fragments into Forgotten Souls at a 10:1 ratio.

Gem Fragments & Flawless Gems

Gem costs in S14 are brutal: for the highest tiers you need up to 25 million fragments. Best sources are the Gem Reserves and farming the Escalation Nightmares — a single run can net over 2 million rubies. Farm the color you actually need, rather than hoarding mixed gem piles. For early Grand gems, Chosen's Reach is the fastest stop. This dungeon sits directly north/east of Temis in Skovos.

Obols

The Obol cap is now 25,000 (up from 2,500). The fastest way to farm them is via the Obol Reserves in the Escalation Nightmares. Use them to gamble targeted gear (especially off-hands and weapons for offensive aspects), then upgrade those in the Cube for missing Legendary aspects.

Crafting Dust

To craft non-boss Uniques you need the matching crafting dust. It's best farmed in Nightmare Dungeons once you've activated the Fearless Conviction War Plan node — it gives guaranteed dust from the completion chest. For upgrading rare/blue items to Legendary in the Cube, you separately use Primordial Dust.

Bonus: When you're stuck on Torment 2
Don't despair — it's completely normal to still be carrying a lot of Rare items at this stage. Tips:

  • Cube upgrade: upgrade rare (or even blue) items to Legendary in the Horadric Cube instead of waiting for perfect drops.
  • Targeted gambling: feed Obols into off-hands and weapons to fish for offensive aspects.
  • Mercenary trading: use the Mercenary trade for aspects & materials.
