Diablo 4: Mythic Drop Rates Buffed & Equip Limits Removed — Season of the Awakened Death
Blizzard responds to Season of the Awakened Death feedback: better Mythic drops from the Corrupted Soul Harvester now, with more coming next week.
Blizzard is responding to community feedback on the Season of the Awakened Death: Mythic Unique items were dropping too rarely, and equip limits got in the way. In a patch on July 16, Blizzard is dialing up the drops – and it's promising more improvements next week.
What changed on July 16
The first patch went live this week and targets exactly what the community was loudest about – access to the season's most powerful loot.
- More Mythics from the boss: The drop rate for Mythic Unique items from the Corrupted Soul Harvester (a.k.a. the Corrupted Reaper) fight has been increased. That keeps the boss the most reliable targeted source for Mythics.
- No more equip limits: The cap on how many Mythic Uniques you can equip at once is gone. You're now free to stack your Mythics however your build wants.
Coming next week
A second patch follows next week and expands Mythic sources beyond the boss:
- Keys from the Glints of Hope cache: Superior Lair Keys are being added to the repeatable Glints of Hope cache, so you get a steadier supply of the keys you need for boss fights.
- More Tributes in the Undercity: In the Undercity of Kurast, the drop rate for Mythic Tributes is going up – extra Mythic chances for everyone farming the Undercity.
Why it matters
A bit of context from us: the Season of the Awakened Death puts Mythic items front and center – yet at launch the drops were so rare that even heavy players barely saw any. These changes lower the barrier noticeably: more sources, better rates, and no equip cap. For you, that means targeted Mythic farming finally pays off – especially via the Corrupted Soul Harvester and the Undercity of Kurast.
What Blizzard says
Seasons are where we experiment with new ideas and push Diablo IV in new directions. Not every idea lands exactly as intended, but we'll continue listening to your feedback, addressing what's not working, and applying those lessons to future seasonal updates.
Blizzard also says it will keep players updated as it has more to share about the future of Mythics. The announcement is signed by Dan Tanguay, Design Director, Live Service.
