Warlock Leveling Build: Blazing Scream

The Blazing Scream Warlock is already a highlight of our current preview selection. It combines an accessible playstyle with high mobility and deals damage as you move through packs. You do not need an elaborate gear setup to get started.

Its biggest early upgrade is Orbital Scream at level 15. A demonic skull circles your character and hits nearby enemies. Briefly channel Blazing Scream to refresh its duration and increase its orbit speed, then keep moving.

Nether Step helps you cover the distance between enemies. Movement Speed is useful for two reasons: it gets you around faster and also improves Blazing Scream through the selected upgrade. Terror Swarm adds damage against larger packs and tougher enemies, while Dark Prison protects you when fights become dangerous.

During the first few levels, you need to build Wrath regularly with Command Fallen. The playstyle becomes much smoother from level 15 onward. Boss fights remain a relative weakness compared with the build's ability to clear regular packs quickly.

  • Strengths: Highly mobile, easy to play, and deals damage while moving.
  • Weaknesses: Early Wrath issues; less effective against bosses.
  • Key milestone: Orbital Scream at level 15.

Rogue Leveling Build: Dance of Knives

The Dance of Knives Rogue suits players who want to move quickly and fight entire packs on the go. While channeling Dance of Knives, you keep moving and continuously throw knives at nearby enemies.

Activate Shadow Imbuement before attacking larger packs. Infected enemies explode when they die, hitting additional targets. This adds substantial area damage when plenty of enemies are grouped together.

Dark Shroud protects you and improves Energy regeneration through the selected upgrade. Concealment helps restore Energy and get you out of dangerous situations. Dash lets you reach the next pack or avoid incoming attacks.

Your biggest early challenge is Energy. If you run out, you need to interrupt Dance of Knives and recover with Concealment or Puncture. More Energy regeneration and lower resource costs gradually make the build smoother.

This makes the Rogue a good fit for players who enjoy mobility and a little preparation before attacking. Holding down your channeled attack for long stretches only works well once your Energy sustain can support it.

  • Strengths: Very high mobility, strong area damage, and fast gameplay.
  • Weaknesses: Early Energy issues; larger attacks need preparation.
  • Remember: Use Shadow Imbuement before larger packs and keep Dark Shroud active.

Barbarian Leveling Build: Whirlwind

The Whirlwind Barbarian is a good choice for a straightforward melee playstyle. You move through enemy packs and hit multiple targets with Whirlwind, backed by good mobility and high toughness.

Use Lunging Strike and Leap to reach enemies and generate Fury. With the selected upgrade, Leap also pulls enemies together. Rallying Cry supports your movement and resource generation, while War Cry increases your damage.

Then channel Whirlwind and move through the pack. The selected upgrade creates additional Dust Devils to increase your area damage. Use Call of the Ancients against Elites, bosses, or particularly large groups.

Early on, Fury sustain limits how long you can keep attacking. When Fury runs low, build it back up briefly before returning to Whirlwind. Avoid channeling unnecessarily when there are no enemies within reach.

Your weapon also makes a big difference while leveling. Pay particular attention to the damage per second of the weapon assigned to Whirlwind. A significant weapon upgrade can matter more than individual desirable affixes.

  • Strengths: Simple playstyle, high toughness, good mobility, and strong pack clearing.
  • Weaknesses: Early interruptions due to low Fury; single targets take a little longer.
  • Remember: Save Fury for packs and regularly upgrade the weapon used by Whirlwind.

Necromancer Leveling Build: Minions (Minionmancer)

The Minion Necromancer fights with an army of Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Mages, and Golems. They deal much of your damage and occupy enemies while you support them. This makes the build a comfortable choice for beginners and anyone who enjoys a more relaxed minion playstyle.

That does not mean the army needs no input. Keep your minions fully summoned, weaken enemies with Decrepify, and regularly use your minion commands. Send your Golem into packs to draw enemy attention.

Army of the Dead strengthens your minions for fights against large packs, Elites, and bosses. Sever is mainly used for mobility. You do not need to keep attacking with it yourself, because your army is the main source of damage.

One distinctive feature is Thorns as supplementary damage. It adds to your minions' regular attacks rather than replacing them.

Even with an army supporting you, avoid rushing ahead unprotected. Let your minions enter dangerous packs first and stay behind them whenever possible. This lets you benefit from their strengths without taking unnecessary hits yourself.

  • Strengths: Easy to play, good pack and boss damage, and a relaxed minion playstyle.
  • Weaknesses: Careless positioning leaves you exposed.
  • Remember: Keep your army fully summoned and use its active commands.

Sorcerer Leveling Build: Blizzard Static Field

The Blizzard Static Field Sorcerer places damaging areas beneath enemies and keeps them under control. It works particularly well against larger packs that you can hit with several overlapping fields.

The key upgrade is Static Field at level 38. It turns Blizzard into a Shock skill, delivers damage faster, lowers the Mana cost, and regularly Stuns enemies. Until then, you play Blizzard as a Frost skill and need to pay closer attention to Mana consumption.

Hydra and Familiar add damage and provide healing through the selected upgrades. Ice Armor protects you with a Barrier. Teleport helps you escape danger or move toward the next pack, while Inferno adds damage against particularly tough enemies.

There is an important requirement for Frost Nova: you initially cast it yourself. Later, the Thul Rune can trigger it. Only remove Frost Nova from your Skill Bar once you have the Rune and it triggers reliably.

The build becomes noticeably smoother at level 38. Keep that difference between the early levels and the later Static Field playstyle in mind when choosing it.

  • Strengths: Strong area damage, good crowd control, and mobility through Teleport.
  • Weaknesses: Higher early Mana consumption; several cooldowns matter.
  • Key milestone: Static Field at level 38.

Paladin Leveling Build: Hammerdin

The Hammerdin Paladin combines strong area damage with solid defenses. With the selected upgrade, your Blessed Hammers follow you and orbit your character. Cast several hammers, then move through enemies so they hit as many targets as possible.

The build uses a one-handed weapon and shield. The additional Block Chance helps keep you alive. Defiance Aura strengthens your defenses, while Fanaticism Aura supports your offense and resource generation.

Rally gives you Faith and Movement Speed. Falling Star takes you into packs quickly or helps you reposition. Moving effectively around your orbiting hammers is an important part of the playstyle.

Early on, you use Holy Bolt to generate Faith. Later, you normally replace it with Arbiter of Justice. If you keep running out of Faith after making that switch, leave Holy Bolt on your Skill Bar for a little longer.

Once your resource sustain is reliable and the Ultimate is available, Hammerdin feels much smoother. You get a mobile build that clears packs while also being able to take a few hits.

  • Strengths: Good defenses, high Block Chance, area damage, and mobility.
  • Weaknesses: Reliant on Faith sustain early on.
  • Remember: Use a one-handed weapon and shield, and do not remove Holy Bolt too early.

Spiritborn Leveling Build: Stinger

The Stinger Spiritborn combines Poison damage with attacks that hit multiple enemies. The order matters: apply Poison first, then attack with Stinger. The selected upgrade gives Stinger additional damage against enemies that are already Poisoned.

Use Scourge, Toxic Skin, and Touch of Death to spread Poison and prepare packs. When Touch of Death expires or its target dies, it creates a swarm that attacks other enemies. This adds damage while you continue attacking with Stinger.

The Devourer supports you against large packs, Elites, and bosses. You do not need to use every skill against a single weak enemy. Save your longer cooldowns for fights where their effects will make a difference.

Watch your Vigor as well. Stinger spends it, while Thrash builds it back up. Especially early on, you regularly alternate between the two rather than using Stinger exclusively.

This build suits players who enjoy combining several attacks. Preparing enemies with Poison takes some attention, but it pays off particularly well against packs and Elites.

  • Strengths: High Poison damage, strong area damage, and effective against Elites.
  • Weaknesses: Requires Poison setup and regular resource generation.
  • Remember: Use the supporting Poison skills rather than relying on Stinger alone.

Druid Leveling Build: Storm Shred

The Storm Shred Druid suits players who want to jump quickly from enemy to enemy and fight in melee. Shred brings you to your target and deals your main damage, with Storm synergies supporting the playstyle in this variant.

Fast target switching is one of its most enjoyable features. Instead of running over to every enemy, you close the gap with Shred. The build also offers good damage against Elites and bosses. If you enjoy mobile melee combat, it is a suitable starting point for your Druid.

To keep attacking, you need to watch your Spirit. Build it with Wind Shear, then switch back to Shred. Brief interruptions to refill your resource are part of the early leveling experience.

Blood Howl heals you and supports resource generation. Cyclone Armor helps you survive in melee, while Cataclysm adds damage against large packs and tough enemies.

The Druid falls a little behind some of the other recommendations here when it comes to area damage. Its strengths are rapidly jumping onto enemies and dealing damage to individual priority targets.

  • Strengths: Highly mobile, good damage against bosses and Elites, and active melee gameplay.
  • Weaknesses: Early Spirit issues; comparatively weaker area damage.
  • Remember: Rebuild your resource and keep an eye on your defenses despite the fast pace.

Which Leveling Build Should I Choose?

The right recommendation mainly depends on your preferred playstyle. Do you want to fight with minions, attack while moving, or control enemies with damaging spell areas? Use these categories to narrow down your choice.

For an Accessible Start

  • Minion Necromancer: Your army handles much of the fighting. You support it with commands and Decrepify.
  • Whirlwind Barbarian: A simple main attack and a sturdy melee playstyle. Pay particular attention to Fury early on.
  • Blazing Scream Warlock: From level 15, keep the orbiting skull active and focus on movement and supporting skills.

For Damage While Moving

  • Blazing Scream Warlock: The skull hits enemies while you keep moving.
  • Dance of Knives Rogue: Channel your attack as you move through the pack.
  • Whirlwind Barbarian: Hit multiple enemies in melee without having to stand still.
  • Hammerdin Paladin: Your hammers orbit you and hit enemies along your path.

For Specific Playstyles

  • Fight alongside a minion army: Minion Necromancer.
  • Place damaging areas and control enemies: Blizzard Static Field Sorcerer.
  • Switch targets quickly in melee: Storm Shred Druid.
  • Combine Poison with several skills: Stinger Spiritborn.
  • Fight with a shield and orbiting hammers: Hammerdin Paladin.

If Staying Safe Is a Priority

Hammerdin brings several defensive tools through its shield, Block Chance, and Defiance Aura. The Whirlwind Barbarian also offers high toughness.

With the Minion Necromancer, your army keeps enemies occupied. This makes fights easier as long as you watch your positioning and avoid running ahead unprotected.

Consider the early levels too: Orbital Scream at level 15 and Static Field at level 38 change their builds significantly. Hammerdin also becomes more comfortable once Faith sustain is reliable and Arbiter of Justice is available.

How to Prepare Your Starter Build

Open the planner for your chosen class and start with the leveling variant and gameplay notes. They also explain the important changes you make as you level.

The displayed gear is something to work toward. You do not need every listed Aspect or Rune during your first few levels. What matters is knowing which skills deal your damage, how you generate resources, and which upgrades change the playstyle.

Only remove a Basic skill or another supporting ability once the intended replacement actually works. Examples include Holy Bolt on Paladin and the Sorcerer's switch from manually casting Frost Nova to triggering it through the Thul Rune.

Season 15 Leveling Builds FAQ

What Is the Best Leveling Build in Diablo 4 Season 15?

That depends on your class and preferred playstyle. Minion Necromancer is a comfortable choice for relaxed leveling. If you want to attack while moving, take a look at Blazing Scream or Dance of Knives. The current PTR information is not enough to establish which builds will be strongest after launch.

Which Leveling Build Is Good for Beginners?

Minion Necromancer offers a relaxed start with an army supporting you. Whirlwind Barbarian has a straightforward core gameplay loop. Blazing Scream is also accessible, especially from level 15 with Orbital Scream.

Which Leveling Builds Are Particularly Mobile?

Blazing Scream, Dance of Knives, and Storm Shred are good options if you want to move quickly between enemies. Whirlwind and Hammerdin also combine attacking with movement. Teleport helps Sorcerers reposition.

Do I Need Unique Items for These Starter Builds?

None of the reviewed equipment overviews lists a Unique as a mandatory item. You develop these characters gradually while leveling. Individual Aspects, Runes, or skill unlocks can still be important for a later variant to work as described.

Can I Keep Playing My Leveling Build in the Endgame?

Some builds can transition into an endgame setup. Blazing Scream can develop into a matching endgame variant, while Minion Necromancer provides a foundation for other minion builds. Check the relevant endgame skill allocation and requirements rather than carrying over the leveling setup unchanged.

Have the Builds Been Updated for Season 15?

All eight linked builds are labeled Season 15 and Leveling. As of September 8, 2026, they are pre-launch preview builds. They have not yet been fully checked against the final live version.

Will the Recommendations Be Updated After Patches?

Yes. After the final patch notes, we will review the recommendations against the build planners again. Relevant changes and the upcoming YouTube video will be added to this page. The overview will remain available at the same URL.
