Season 14 Is Ending: What Happens to Your Characters and What to Do Before It Ends

Expected to end on September 15 at 10:00 a.m. PDT: the move to the Eternal Realm, the withdraw-only stash tab, rewards and the switch to Season 15

The Season of the Awakened Death is in its final days. According to the in-game timer, Season 14 is expected to end on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, right after BlizzCon. What happens to your seasonal characters, your stash and your progress at that point has followed the same rules for years. Here is what carries over, what is left behind and what is still worth doing in the days that remain – as of September 11, 2026.

Expected end: Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 10:00 a.m. PDT (17:00 UTC, 19:00 CEST) · Source: in-game timer, not yet officially confirmed by Blizzard · Afterwards: seasonal characters move to the Eternal Realm · We will update this article as soon as Blizzard confirms the date.

The Short Version

  • Season 14 is expected to end on September 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. There is no official date yet; more details are expected at BlizzCon on September 12 and 13.
  • Your seasonal characters are not deleted. They move to the Eternal Realm with their name, level, equipped gear and Paragon progress, and remain playable there.
  • Seasonal Hardcore characters move to the Eternal Hardcore Realm.
  • Items in your seasonal stash end up in a withdraw-only stash tab. Anything you have not taken out by the end of the following season is deleted.
  • Seasonal mechanics, the Season Journey and unclaimed rewards stay behind with the season. Claim your rewards before it ends.
  • There is nothing to pre-farm for Season 15: new seasonal characters start without gold, materials or items from earlier seasons.

When Exactly Does Season 14 End?

Blizzard has not announced the end of Season 14 in writing yet. The date comes from the in-game timer, which counts down the remaining runtime of the season and lands on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The time is far more reliable than the date: Diablo 4 has switched seasons at 17:00 UTC for years, which is 10:00 a.m. PDT and 1:00 p.m. EDT. Season 14 itself launched at exactly that time on June 30. The switch is usually preceded by maintenance during which the servers are briefly unavailable.

A season end right after BlizzCon fits Blizzard's usual pattern: the "Diablo IV: What's Next" panel runs on Sunday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. PT. The full schedule is in Diablo at BlizzCon 2026: Every Panel, Creator, Twitch Badge and Drop.

What Happens to Your Seasonal Characters?

When a season ends, every character on the Seasonal Realm moves to the Eternal Realm automatically. You do not need to do anything.

  • Carries over: name, class, level, equipped gear, gold and Paragon progress. After the switch your characters appear in the Eternal Realm character list and share the stash of your Eternal characters.
  • Stays behind: everything tied to the season – the seasonal mechanic, Season Journey progress and any rewards you have not claimed.
  • Hardcore: seasonal Hardcore characters move to the Eternal Hardcore Realm. Characters that died during the season stay dead.
Once Season 15 is live, you can no longer play your old Season 14 characters on the Seasonal Realm. If you want to keep playing them, you do so on the Eternal Realm.

What Happens to Your Stash and Items?

Items stored in your seasonal stash are not lost. On the Eternal Realm they are gathered in a separate stash tab that you can only withdraw from – you cannot put anything back in.

Mind the deadline: the withdraw-only tab only lasts until the start of the following season. Anything you have not taken out or salvaged by then is deleted. If you want to keep your Season 14 loot, move it into your regular stash at some point during Season 15.

Equipped gear moves with the character directly. So whether your best pieces are equipped or sitting in the stash makes no difference for keeping them – only the withdraw-only tab has a deadline.

What Should You Finish Before Season 14 Ends?

The last days are mainly worth spending on anything tied to the season that becomes unreachable afterwards:

  1. Claim your rewards: check the Season Journey, Season Rank and Reliquary for rewards you have unlocked but not yet claimed. Cosmetics you do not collect before the end cannot be claimed later.
  2. Finish seasonal objectives: if you are only a few steps away from a cosmetic or title, these are the last days to get it.
  3. Sort your loot: keep the items you actually want to use on the Eternal Realm and salvage the rest. It saves work in the withdraw-only tab later.
  4. Plan a character slot: if you want to create a new character in Season 15, check that you have a free slot. Alternatively, you can bring an Eternal character into the new season via Rebirth – it must have no equipped items and an empty inventory. The details are in Rebirth Explained: How It Works in Season 15.
Not needed: pre-farming gold, materials or items for Season 15. New seasonal characters start without anything from earlier seasons or the Eternal Realm.

What Comes Next in Season 15?

Season 15 arrives with patch 3.2.0. Blizzard is holding back the season name and theme until BlizzCon; what is known is what was playable on the public test realm from August 4 to 11:

  • Soul Splinters – socketable jewelry with powerful effects and clear drawbacks, see Soul Splinters: Effects and Drawbacks
  • Rebirth for Eternal characters
  • Challenge Dungeons, the Horadric Post and new crafting routes for Mythics
Our Season 15 overview collects the current state. What you can prepare before launch – class, starter build, leveling method – is in the Season 15 preparation checklist. And the build planner with the Season 15 preview already lets you put together your build with the PTR data.
