Talisman — The New Build Backbone in Lord of Hatred

Passive bonuses, personalized customization, cross-class set synergies.

What is the Talisman?

The Talisman is a brand-new equipment system introduced with Lord of Hatred. It doesn't occupy a classic gear slot — instead it forms its own build backbone, inspired by older Diablo titles and reimagined for the modern D4 era.

Core mechanic

  • Passive bonuses — The Talisman grants persistent effects that scale with your build.
  • Special properties — Unique modifiers let you push builds in directions that go beyond classic items.
  • Personal customization — You shape your character deliberately toward your dream build.

Sets are back

The Talisman brings back a beloved old feature: sets for every class. Set bonuses, like we knew them from earlier Diablo games, return — carefully balanced for the new endgame.

Set planning: The Talisman is the lever that activates set bonuses. Anyone planning set builds has to factor the Talisman into their build plan.

Cube interaction

The Horadric Cube and the Talisman are tightly linked. While the Cube transforms and combines items, you use the Talisman to fit those items into your build backbone and unlock set bonuses.
